What background was most represented in Tate County School District schools in 2021-22 school year?

Black students made up 21.8% of the 2,036 students enrolled in Tate County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 33.7% decrease from the previous school year.

East Tate Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 482 students.

A snapshot of Tate County School District schools showed 21.8% of students were Black, 15.7% were white, 1.3% were multiracial, and 1.2% Hispanic.

Tate County School District roughly covers three schools within Tate County and has a main office in Coldwater.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
