Enrollment by Ethnicity: Black was most represented background in Quitman County School District schools in 2021-22 school year

Black students made up 68.6% of the 898 students enrolled in Quitman County School District schools during the 2021-22 school year, making them the most represented ethnicity, according to the Mississippi Department of Education.

This is a 29% decrease from the previous school year.

Quitman County Elementary School had the highest enrollment in the district with 376 students.

A snapshot of Quitman County School District schools showed 68.6% of students were Black and 1.4% white.

Quitman County School District roughly covers three schools within Quitman County and has a main office in Lambert.

Mississippi has continually struggled with public education. The most recent Report Card on American Education, from a right-leaning think tank, gave the state a C-. This is consistent with ratings stretching back nearly a decade.

The nonpartisan Education Week also ranked Mississippi schools as C- in their most recent analysis.
